With the Home Efficiency Rebate from Enbridge, it’s possible to lower energy consumption, reduce energy costs, and make the home much more comfortable right around the year. Enbridge offers up to $5,000 in rebates for various home energy upgrades – such as air sealing, insulation, new windows or doors, water heaters, boilers, and even furnaces.
Before any upgrades or retrofits, homeowners must undertake a professional home energy assessment. This is a pre-requisite of the rebate and must be provided by a Registered Energy Advisor. The home energy assessment will assess the home for energy usage and recommend upgrades and improvements that will suit. At least two upgrades are required to qualify for a rebate.
Improving home energy efficiency is about making a home more comfortable while saving money on seasonal energy bills. With the right upgrades, the house is made more comfortable, and the HVAC system (heating and air conditioning) works in better balance.
After the home energy assessment is complete, the two required energy upgrades would qualify for the Home Efficiency Rebate based on the work performed. It's a win-win situation in the short term and can add resale value to the home long-term.
Enbridge also offers rebates for replacing windows, doors, and skylights with energy-efficient product options. As well, a substantial rebate is available for air sealing. And finally, there’s a good rebate for replacing an existing furnace. Indeed, the more upgrades, the more rebates.
To qualify for the Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) from Enbridge, homeowners must apply before renovating or replacing old equipment. A homeowner must be a residential customer of Enbridge Gas and own a detached, semi-detached, townhouse or mobile home. The home must be heated with natural gas, with either a furnace or boiler.
