Enbridge Rebate - Up to $5,000 to Improve Home Energy Efficiency

checking eligibility for enbridge rebates

With the Home Efficiency Rebate from Enbridge, it’s possible to lower energy consumption, reduce energy costs, and make the home much more comfortable right around the year. Enbridge offers up to $5,000 in rebates for various home energy upgrades – such as air sealing, insulation, new windows or doors, water heaters, boilers, and even furnaces.

Before any upgrades or retrofits, homeowners must undertake a professional home energy assessment. This is a pre-requisite of the rebate and must be provided by a Registered Energy Advisor. The home energy assessment will assess the home for energy usage and recommend upgrades and improvements that will suit. At least two upgrades are required to qualify for a rebate.

Investing in Comfort and Savings

Improving home energy efficiency is about making a home more comfortable while saving money on seasonal energy bills. With the right upgrades, the house is made more comfortable, and the HVAC system (heating and air conditioning) works in better balance.

After the home energy assessment is complete, the two required energy upgrades would qualify for the Home Efficiency Rebate based on the work performed. It's a win-win situation in the short term and can add resale value to the home long-term.

At Least 2 Upgrades Are Required

  • Get up to $3,000 in rebates for exterior wall insulation – properly insulated walls will prevent outside air from flowing in and out of the home and wasting valuable energy
  • Get up to $1,250 in rebates for installing basement insulation – a well-insulated basement will ensure that all rooms above are more comfortable during winter and summer
  • Get up to $650 in rebates for installing attic insulation – a properly insulated attic will prevent winter heating (and summer cooling) from escaping through the attic and roof
  • Get $1,000 in rebates for installing a new boiler system – an ultra-quiet and energy-efficient boiler system can help to reduce heating costs during the winter dramatically
  • Get $400 back in rebates for installing a new water heater – this is a very worthwhile upgrade because water heating accounts for significant energy usage in a typical home

Enbridge also offers rebates for replacing windows, doors, and skylights with energy-efficient product options. As well, a substantial rebate is available for air sealing. And finally, there’s a good rebate for replacing an existing furnace. Indeed, the more upgrades, the more rebates.

Household eligibility for the HER

To qualify for the Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) from Enbridge, homeowners must apply before renovating or replacing old equipment. A homeowner must be a residential customer of Enbridge Gas and own a detached, semi-detached, townhouse or mobile home. The home must be heated with natural gas, with either a furnace or boiler.
